Bar Figueroa

Down on S Figueroa St, traffic's already humming past the glass storefront before you even hit the concrete stairs up to suite 200. It's loud, the pavement's radiating summer heat, and the bouncer's checking IDs like he's completely bored out of his mind. You're walking into Bar Figueroa and bass's rattling through the drywall already. Heavy room. Line moves pretty fast tonight, though.

It isn't your typical sticky floor dive out here in downtown. There's polished wood, dim lighting bouncing off rows of liquor bottles, and people packed shoulder-to-shoulder near the cramped stage area. Bartenders slinging tall cans fast, heavy glasses clinking over whatever indie rock band's tuning up in the corner. You've got to shout just to order, but that's why you're here on a Friday night sweating through your favorite jacket.

Sound bounces hard off the low concrete ceiling. If you're standing right near the front speakers, your ears'll ring for three whole days straight. Someone spills a hazy IPA right by my sneaker as the guitar amp kicks in with a sharp squeal of raw feedback, drowning out the chatter at the bar.
